After nearly five years post-qualification work as a corporate lawyer in the City, I made the move into legal recruitment in 1999 and I’ve never looked back. Whether placing a partner into a big City firm or advising an associate on their all-important early steps, my pleasure is in seeing them go on to fulfilling roles and careers that develop with them. They often return as clients.
For me, recruitment is all about making best use of a client or candidate’s time. For busy partners or HR professionals who instruct me that means a targeted and intelligent recruitment service. Time and time again that's what my clients say they want and increasingly struggle to find. For lawyers looking to change jobs, finding the time, between highly demanding workloads, to devote to this can be critical. They simply need a recruiter they can trust, who knows the market inside out and can make the right judgement, based on experience, on best law firm fit. Regularly the lawyers I work with tell me this is what I provide.
In between day to day recruitment I have also acted as an expert legal recruitment witness. In the reported High Court case, Clarke v Maltby, the judge, the Hon. Mr Justice Owen remarked in his judgement that the assessment I gave was based on my “... intimate knowledge of the market”.
In my spare time I enjoy spending as much time as I can with my family. That often means listening to my children play the viola and cello on the weekend and when I can squeeze it in playing football and going to the gym. Early in my recruitment career I found time to add to my law degree and LLM from Kings College London by gaining a degree in Psychology.

We work with a wide range of law firms from U.S., silver circle and large UK firms in the City through to smaller West End and niche law firms.
A high proportion of candidates come from recommendation and referrals. However we also have a large database of candidates we have worked with in the past, regularly advertise with the leading specialist publications in the legal sector and use research and headhunting when appropriate.
Working with Partners is a separate expertise within Ziegler Consulting. It’s an area in which we have vast experience but one in which we follow the very same ethos that pervades everything we do. We provide in-depth advice on how to present you to clients, in particular your business plan as well as dealing with the whole process through to offer, negotiation and transitioning arrangements to your new firm.
